For those of you who don’t know, we [the staff of Xanga, including: 8 engineers, 4 product analysts, 2 advertising sales people, Natalia, Eugenia, and the ruling triumvate of Marc, John, and Dan] have been working our collective tails off cloning ALL of the technology of Xanga for a brand new sister site – www.hoodstars.com.   What is Hoodstars?  It is a collaboration with (Lil) Bow Wow, and
Xanga, to create a social network with an Urban / R&B / Hip Hop
flavor.  Think of Hoodstars as an alternate universe, that exists in
the same time and place as Xanga, but with a totally different base of
users.  We essentially took turns pulling all nighters and neglecting our respective families/girl friends/boy friends, while we programmed, tested, and marveled at the beauty and horror of it all. 

Well its done.  And it is actually very interesting to see how the exact same technology can evolve an entirely different community from the one that already lives here in Xanga.  You should check it out, if you’re into that style of music scene, or if like me, you enjoy studying virtual communities.  Anyways – very very tired now.  Have a great weekend!  I’m going to sleep.  ^_^
