Problem with albums?
We got an e-mail earlier this week stating that there was a problem arranging the order of photos and videos in the “arrange items” page. Has anyone else (who uses albums) noticed this problem? I need to know specific browser and OS settings. I’m putting a bounty on this – the first person to reproduce the bug – and provide the steps to do so gets the prize of a 1000 eprop mini from me.

Sorry I can’t help but I think giving that eprop is a nice way to encourage people to help.
I do have a question for you. I was considering trying Opera. Does Xanga work with Opera?
@skanickadee - If it works on Mozilla, chances are it’ll work on Opera, as both are highly standards compliant. There still might be some quirks though. You can have multiple browsers installed on any given machine, so don’t be afraid to test it out. (I have Mozilla 3.0 beta 4, Internet Explorer 7, Safari for Windows, and Opera all on my machine right now) >_<
One other question and not really an important one but it seems as if Xanga’s time marks are about 5 minutes ahead of Fort Collins time signal? What’s up with that?
@joseph - Thanks for the answer. I do have IE and Firefox and just thought I’d give Opera a try, too.
@skanickadee - we’re 5 minutes into the future. ^_^
I’ve noticed that I cannot change the cover picture of my albums, and it’s the interface chooing the cover pic, and if I drag that image away, I canät replace it with another one from the pictures included in my album. This has made me delete some albums since they look ugly without a cover. Otherwise dropping and draggoing works fine for me
IE 7 & Windows XP
win xp pro sp3
firefox 2.0.0.12 – no problems arranging, javascript void error when attempting to change the album cover
firefox 3 beta 2 – no problems arranging, javascript void error when attempting to change the album cover
internet explorer 6&7, no problems.
it appears to be an issue only when running firefox. i can’t try this on any other (non-MS) OS at this time, sorry.
also, opera 9.26 – no problems changing the album cover, but really weird issues when trying to arange photos within an album.
…email me if you need me to expound upon these remarks.
@porcupinesol - you rock Remy. ^_^
:smiley2:
:smiley:
@porcupinesol - how the heck did you create that blue smiley on my page?!
@joseph - thank you, thank you.
@joseph - see above comment. there is a pink one.
<–yellow.
@porcupinesol - O_O What is this cool secret feature?! I must have it!
@joseph - HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH! are you serious??
<–green smiley
@porcupinesol - gah! how did I not know you could do this! (opening up the smiley project)
@joseph - i do not know how you did not know. why do you think i am laughing so hard?
@porcupinesol -
the sad thing is that I had to look at the code to figure out how you were doing it. We really need to document this stuff better…
@joseph -
i see you got the hang of it! good job!
p.s. i do not use the old xanga homepage. i use the new homemain… i just still recall how to do all the old script smilies.
my porcupinesol xanga is not the oldest one i have.. thatwhomisnot is, i believe.
@joseph - does anyone even use these ones anymore? i still love ‘em.
oh, since i haven’t yet checked, did you guys fix the problems with firefox and opera?
@relaxolgy - hummmmm… interesting catch.
compatibility issues FTL. also, this is becoming a very long string of replies.
@porcupinesol - which problems are you referring to?
@porcupinesol - it makes me look really lame eh? 32 comments and only six e-props?
@joseph - wow thanks for the mini!! I did not een see that part in your post until after I left my comment. Anyways, I tested again. I can clear the cover picture, but when I try the edit link it says “java spript void 0″. Someotimes I’ve accidently deleted the cover pic from my photos, and not been able to choose another one for the cover
so I’m not a comupter wiz (not a nerd), but since you’re a pro you know that amateurs are the best bug finders..
I love the way Remy freaked you out with her blue smiley
@joseph - um, the album problems we’ve found. and besides, it’s not called “lame” anymore, it’s referred to as “actively using the reply feature.”
@relaxolgy -
<–green smiley (also, regarding albums, i think it’s weird that IE 7 doesn’t work for you, but works fine for me…)
@porcupinesol -
! It’s probably my security settings, or firewall (or asnti virus?), Zone Alarm. Everytime I want to add a link in a comment or weblog entry using the add link button, this yellow box pops at the top of the page asking if I temporaily want to aööow java script pop-up. But this does NOT happen about the albums. nothing happens then…
@joseph - you’re a dumdum
Hey Joseph!
The last couple of days I have been having a hard time getting around Xanga. It seemed the first day I noticed this I was having problems all over the internet which made me wonder if it was a problem with my ISP, Comcast. Now it only seems to be Xanga. I’ll click on a Xanga page and it takes a LONG time to load. Is something up? Is there some way I can fix this? I’d appreciate any help.
@skanickadee - where are you having the most problems? All over Xanga, or on specific types of pages?
I use Firefox and I watch that little circle of dots go round and round. Comcast is my isp and I have a cable modem. It seems to be all pages but I notice it most when I try to get to my subs to comment – those darn dots just keep going round and round. I suppose it really isn’t that slow but it is slower than normal. Someone else commented on my site that they are having the same problem getting to their subs.
Also, I don’t use themes on my page. The page is mostly graphic free except for my heart icon. The page has a hard time loading. The heart icon/profile pic will post in the middle of my page and just sit there for awhile. Eventually the profile pic will move to where it should be and the rest of the page will load.
Thanks for any and all help! I miss playing Xanga!
:ssgrin:
Hi! I don’t mean to be a pest but I am still having problems with Xanga pages loading. Is there any way to tell where the problem is? If it is an issue with Xanga – I’ll just wait it out but if it is an issue with my ISP I’d like to give them a call. It does just seem to be Xanga, though, and not other sites.
Thanks!
@skanickadee - I don’t think its an issue with Xanga, but its hard for me to tell since things are loading fine for me. I can view your page with little or no lag. I just talked to Dan, and he says he can look into it. Shoot him a message, and tell him I sent you k?
Hey there! Thanks for checking out my site. I did a few things (virus/spyware scan) on my end to no avail. I finally asked my son and he thought maybe my Firefox might be corrupted. He deleted my Firefox and uploaded it again. It’s like 90% better. It might be time for a computer purge for me.
I thought it was a Xanga problem because other sites were loading fine. So, who knows?
Thank you very much Joseph to take the time to investigate my problem. I know you have a lot of other things to do. I really appreciate your time.
Thanks again – Mary Beth
ha ha ha. how about $1,000 bucks!?
thanx for you…
no problems changing the album cover, but really weird issues when trying to arange photos within an album.
